THE NORWICH CENTRE

Our Services

OUR COURSES, WORKSHOPS & EVENTS

Our Courses:

The Norwich Centre offers a number of training opportunities from introduction courses, including our Introduction to Counselling Skills course and our Certificate in Counselling Skills course.  If you want to go on to become a qualified counsellor, then we also offer a Post Graduate, level 7, Diploma in Person-Centred Counselling.  This course is a BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy) accredited course and is fully compliant with SKoPEd.

All our courses are self funded and part-time therefore continuing to work whilst studying is completely manageable if you need to.

Introduction Course

Our Introduction Course is a 10 week part-time course and usually runs 3 times a year.

Current status: The Spring 2026 Introduction Course is currently accepting new applications.

If you are interested in joining the next Introduction Course please email us at training@norwichcentre.org for more information or to be added to the waiting list.

Certificate Course

The Certificate Course is a 1 year part-time course and we aim to run this course at least once each academic year.  This is a level 5 course and can be a pre-course to the post graduate diploma if this is the route you wish to take.

Current status: The 2025 - 2026 Certificate Course is currently running and unable to accept new applications. The application process for the 2026-2027 Certificate course will open in January 2026.

Post-Graduate Diploma Course

The Diploma Course is a 2 year part-time course which runs every 2 years.  This is a level 7 course and is a BACP accredited course and is SKoPEd compliant which is a requirement for all courses by 2028 and means the course has fully incorporated training objectives for on-line and telephone counselling and meets Gold Book standards.

Current status: The 2024 - 2026 Diploma Course is currently running and unable to accept new applications.

The application process for the 2026 – 2028 course is now open.  To read more about the course and the criteria for applying, please read The Norwich Centre Post-Graduate Diploma in Counselling Brochure 2026-2028 below.

Applicants for the 2026 – 2028 Post Graduate Diploma will be invited for interview on a first come first served basis and places on the course will be offered, where appropriate, following interview.

As we can only accept 24 people on to the course, if you are in the first 24 application received and are successful at interview, you will be offered a place.  If you are 25+ on the waiting list you will still be offered an interview where appropriate and, if you are successful, then you will be offered a ‘waiting list’ place: What this means is that if someone decides not to accept their place or is not successful in obtaining a place following an interview then you will move up the waiting list.  Whilst we cannot guarantee places for those who are 25+ on the waiting list, it is often the case that those in ‘waiting list’ places can get a place as the application process progresses.  It is also important to note that if you are offered a ‘waiting list’ place and you remain in a 25+ position, your place will be automatically offered and held for you, if you accept it, for the following diploma course which will start in 2028.  All of the above process will be explained further at interview stage.

Interviews will be offered to those applicants that we feel meet the course criteria.

Encounter Group

Meeting weekly over a period of eight weeks, the Encounter Group will sit together for three hours, once a week, with the intention of being with one another.  The emphasis will be on staying with the here-and-now and in-the-moment experience.  This is a facilitated, rather than traditional teacher-student environment, with the emphasis on co-creation and shared responsibility.
